Welcome Claire Bridget Khan!

On Sunday, July 20th at 8:33 am in Danbury, CT, Claire Bridget Khan graced us with her presence. She was 5 days late, but once she decided it was time, there was no stopping her. All 10lbs 1.5ozs and 22inches of her, made its way into the world within 2 hours of my first contraction!

Unfortunately, her homecoming will take a bit longer. About an hour after her birth she began experiencing respiratory distress which required an immediate transfer to the NICU. She has remained there since. Their best guess at a diagnosis is pneumonia caused by group B strep. She came in pretty critical and had to be intabated but she has received excellent treatment and put up quite a fight. She went from needing maximum ventilator support to graduating off of it in just 48 hours.

Casey stayed with her the first two nights while I was splitting my time between her room and my own and I moved into her NICU pod with her as of Tuesday. So far she has been able to meet Jackson and Francis and may meet Nicholas and Maggie this weekend.
