All about Claire- Day 2

Claire's second day started off with a little less excitement than her first. She remained stable on the ventilator through the night and they were able to decrease her O2 levels from 100% down to about 45%. They also reduced the pressure and rate a little to see if she would take on more of the breathing herself, which she did. Her white blood cell count came up, which was a sign she was beginning to fight the infection. She did keep bleeding from her trachea, so they did a clotting study to see if she needed plasma and prepared us for the idea she might need a transfusion.

Her chest xray looked slightly better than the previous day but still lots of fluid in her lungs.

Here are some pictures of her from that day. It was so sad, with the ventilator passing thru her vocal chords, she could cry but no one could hear her! She didn't cry after birth, so at that point, we still hadn't heard her cry!
