All about Claire- Day 3

Claire had another good night last night with Daddy. They continued to dial back her ventilator settings and during morning rounds the doctor said the plan is to take her off today and transition her to the Cpap. I know the fact that she can come off this soon is encouraging but it is also slightly terrifying to have her off the ventilator because the Cpap can only help her by supplying oxygen and pressure. It can't breath for her. Also, her blood work came back generally good with the exception of her d-dimer? which was very elevated and possibly why she seemed to have a lot of bleeding. Their hope is as the infection clears those numbers will improve and when the vent comes out her throat will have the chance to heal.
I am officially discharged and moving to the couch in Claire's room. Casey is headed home to the rest of the kids and I am hoping to get there for a little while this afternoon.
