Spending time with Cousins

In May, two of Casey's Uncle Kevin's girls graduated college, so in June we headed to Staten Island to celebrate. The kids had fun swimming in the pool and playing wii. They tried to turn little Kevin onto wii, but he and Nicholas were more interested in playing cars and eating cupcakes. It was great to aee everyone and to visit with Aunt Lee and Bill, who put us up for the night. Here are some pictures.

Take me out to the Ballgame

This year both Jackson and Francis wanted to play baseball, so Jackson did little league and Francis did t-ball. Both boys really enjoyed it and had a great season working on their baseball skills and spending time with their friends. The league we joined divides teams up by neighborhood, which made it nice for the kids to see some familiar faces and the moms for carpooling purposes. Jackson would be content to eat, sleep, and breathe baseball, practicing on his days off and always looking forward to the next game. Francis seemed to enjoy his time in the dugout socializing more than his time on the field (he takes after his mother), but he learned a lot and made every trip around the bases with a huge grin. Nicholas was, as always, their biggest fan, splitting his time between sitting in a pile of dirt and running into the parking lot....

Grandparents Day Show!

Happy Mother's Day!

At the last minute we found out that Jackson's school was hosting a celebration for Grandparents the day after Mother's Day. Casey's Mom was able to get a flight and come out, so we spent Mother's Day with her and then she spent the following day at school with Jackson. Here is a picture Casey took of all of us outside of Mass on Sunday and some of the she took of the boys. She greated them all with authentic Texas cowboy boots (see picture of Nicholas) and was subjected to lots and lots of basketball....

Times they are a-changing'....

Your eyes aren't playing tricks on you, that is a pink towel you see in the picture. That is right, our boy streak is coming to an end as we get ready to welcome a baby girl! We actually found out the news rather unexpectedly on Casey's birthday and then had it confirmed a few weeks later. They boys are very excited about "trying a sister", (as Francis says) and even Nicholas walks around the house talking about his sister. I have been pretty restrained in filling the house with pink, but little by little it is creeping in. I am sure that will change as we slowly move Nicky out of the nursery and get things ready for the new baby. We have not decided on a name yet and probably will not until she is born. Right now we are just enjoying preparing for this exciting transition.

And then there were four....

That's right another little Khan to love! I know my sporadic posting has left many gaps as to what the Khan crew has been up to, but this news should help explain the latest delinquency. I have been sick, sick, sick; pretty much since New Year's. The housework has suffered (immensely), the yard work, the homeschooling (Francis), and of course the blog. But I am starting to come out of it a bit. Better weather has helped, as has putting that first trimester behind me. Anyway, the baby is due in mid-September and may even be here in time to help us celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary! The delivery room is not exactly where we saw ourselves spending the big day, but once we found out, we were all to happy to change our plans. What better reminder of our wedding vows then getting to welcome a perfect little reflection of God's life-giving love? We are truly humbled by this incredible gift of new life.

And yes, my guess is another boy! (This ultrasound shot was at 8 weeks 4 days- the baby was the size of a raspberry in this picture and is now the size of a sweet potato!)

Francis is Five!

Happy Birthday Francis! Francis celebrated his birthday with Grandma and Grandpa while we were in CT for new Year's and then again at home with his friends. He had a Lego party with several of the boys in the neighborhood. This was the first friend party he has ever had so it was pretty exciting. He is also taking this getting older buisness very seriously. On the morning of his birthday he came downstairs with a pair of jeans he found at the bottom of his drawer and announced "I need some new clothes!". (Attention grandparents reading this blog: He doesn't) I said, "Really, why?" He responded, "I am five, but my clothes are still four."
